March 2009 Pittsburgh Squash Board Meeting

Minutes

 

 

1.                  In Attendance:

(a)                Duilio Costa

(b)               Lafe Metz

(c)                Dave Michalowski

(d)               Anthony Pacella

2.                  Team League Season Wrap-Up

(a)                The Board thought the 2008-09 season went well.

(b)               For the 2009-2010 season, Pittsburgh Squash plans to provide shirts for the winning teams in the A/B and C leagues.

(c)                The Board will consider whether to expand the C league to 5 players per match in the 2009-2010 season.

3.                  Spring Tournament Preparations Finalized

4.                  Logo Selection - Dave Michalowski will develop some new logo options based on the Board's suggestions.

5.                  Rivers Club Court Fees Resolution - The Rivers Club agreed not to charge court fees for future Pittsburgh Squash A/B and C league matches.  This will save Pittsburgh Squash about $1,000/year.  The Rivers Club will continue to charge $10/hour for court time used during Pittsburgh Squash tournaments.

6.                  Team League Rules - Updated version posted to Pittsburgh Squash website.

7.                  Bylaws Update - Steve and Lithemba are still working to revise Pittsburgh Squash's bylaws.

8.                  Pittsburgh Open Pro Tournament Update - Duilio reported that Kim Fleming has agreed to be the Tournament Chair for the revival of the Pittsburgh Open.  Per Duilio, Kim suggested that we tentatively slate the tournament for 2012, so that the fundraising effort can be delayed until the economy improves.  The Board adopted Kim's suggestion.

9.                  Fall Rules Clinic Update - Duilio will provide contact info for Gregory Gaultier and Wael El Hindi, who we will contact for a quote to provide a one- or two-day squash clinic this fall.
